A few ideas to level up your next meal, while I work on increasing the options in Surbiton & Kingston.
You can get Gochujang Paste in Surbiton Waitrose (world foods aisle, in the Chinese & South East Asian section, third shelf up from the bottom, on your right). It's quite spicy so I'd recommend starting with 1tbsp and go from there.
You can swap in soy sauce or rice vinegar for the fish sauce. Thai Taste do a vegan fish sauce (available on Ocado) but I haven't spotted it on the shelves.
Recipe edit - I couldn't resist! I soaked red onion in lime juice and then fried it, instead of adding pickled 👌
This appeared in the Waitrose vegan fridge recently and I'm hooked. Really adds something to fajitas, and once we had leftovers and added them to an at-home beyond burger with fried onion and guacamole: you need to try this. Not 100% sure how to break up the pieces so I usually just cut or tear them in half/quarters.
PS - I know Waitrose is bougie but it's very convenient!
Indo-Chinese cuisine, relaxed diner vibe, and very central. It's a vegetarian place but with plenty of vegan options, and we went tapas-style. Dinner for two was in the region of £90, but we did go big and I ordered a margarita - no regrets, especially as it came out purple which is my favourite colour.
I'd love to hear what's floating your boat!
